Land use study of Lincoln yards, Chicago
Project overview-The Lincoln Yards Master Plan aims to transform former industrial land into a mixed-use community spanning over 55 acres along the North Branch of the Chicago River. Situated amidst Bucktown, Wicker Park, and Lincoln Park, this development seeks to establish a symbiotic relationship between built structures, public spaces, and the surrounding neighborhoods. Aligned with Chicago's Industrial Modernization Initiative recommendations and the North Branch Framework Plan, which rezoned the area, Lincoln Yards is envisioned as a catalyst for economic growth, transit-oriented development, and the creation of a vibrant riverfront environment. This study focuses on the historical evolution of the Lincoln Yards site, its land use changes, the impact of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) contributions, and an in-depth exploration of the proposed development plan.
