Enhanced understanding of excel and introduction to Urban Footprint & SPSS
Project overview- The Mount Prospect community township, located 23 miles northwest of the Chicago loop, Illinois, was chosen for the community profile project, in which the community's history, demographics, household characteristics, and economic sector facets were analyzed using data from the United States Census Bureau. This analysis assisted in understanding the community's strengths and opportunities and could be used to make more informed planning decisions by better understanding the target group. In addition, the study used location quotients, shift-share analysis, and the Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) method to identify the community's strong economic sectors and which industries were negatively impacted. The Urban footprint tool was used to obtain spatial data from the land use map and to create scenario planning. As a result, key findings were derived based on these community factors to better drive its planning initiatives.
