The studio aimed at deriving a spatial plan and urban design-oriented solution for the issues faced by the people of Forest Park, IL a western suburb of Chicago. Based on the background study, demographic analysis and community outreach the team devised the following approach -
“Focusing on three key areas of efficiency, inclusivity, and
sustainability the intervention - “Green Mutualism” is centered
on the connectivity of people with each other and their surroundings
for a site feasible to implement both green- and mobility-related
tactical strategies believed to bridge the gaps presented in the community.

O'Hare International Airport
(Project coordinator role for - O'Hare 21 and Terminal Area Plan Project)

In my current role as a Project Coordinator, I contribute to real-world aviation planning initiatives by supporting the development of comprehensive planning frameworks that balance operational efficiency, passenger experience, and long-term adaptability. My work involves coordinating analyses of existing airport conditions and assisting in the development of strategic planning and design interventions informed by data, stakeholder input, and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities and areas of contribution include:

  • supporting existing conditions, demand, and capacity analyses

  • assisting with passenger flow, operational, and spatial assessments

  • coordinating with internal teams, airport stakeholders, and agency partners

  • synthesizing issues and supporting scenario development

  • contributing to terminal, landside, and spatial planning design interventions

In addition to supporting planning strategies, I assist in developing implementation frameworks that outline short-, medium-, and long-term actions to enable phased delivery while maintaining operational continuity.

O'Hare 21 Plan - Chicago Department of Aviation

The following text highlight my specific contributions to the aviation planning process and project deliverables.

1. Terminal & Concourse Planning / Long-Range Planning
• Led existing conditions analysis and future expansion planning for Terminals 1, 3, 5, Rotunda concourses.
• Developed 5–10 year alternative planning for Terminal 3 Headhouse, including security lanes, check-in reorganization, commercial adjacencies, and impact area calculations.
• Supported Terminal 1 expansion and reconfiguration planning during TAP construction, including north/south infill options and temporary operational phasing.
• Conducted Concourse G, re-determination studies, right-sizing holdrooms and airline spaces based on aircraft mix and gate allocation changes.
• Prepared design-to-budget planning for S1, S2, and OGT airline operational spaces.
• Contributed to campus-wide planning presentations, mapping CDA operations and support spaces across existing and future terminals.

2. Passenger Flow, Capacity, and Level of Service Analysis

• Performed walk distance, sterile circulation, and restroom proximity analyses across Terminals 1, 3, 5, S1, S2, and OGT.
• Led security checkpoint planning, including queuing layouts, K-9 integration, device comparisons, and exit control strategies in coordination with CBP and CDA.

• Conducted wheelchair flow and storage studies, optimizing passenger accessibility and circulation efficiency.
• Developed One-Stop Security Factory passenger flow concepts, mapping end-to-end flows from check-in to holdroom for departing, connecting, and arriving passengers.
• Evaluated vertical circulation core capacity and LOS between T1–T3, identifying alternatives for expansion, exit controls, and cost-effective build-outs.

3. Airline Space Planning & AULA / Rates & Charges
• Led airline-specific space planning for existing and future conditions across Terminals 1, 2, 3, S1, S2, and OGT.
• Developed AULA Exhibits (Existing, 30% Design, and Improvements) with airline-specific space use graphics and area tables.
• Prepared Terminal 5 Stage II expansion area calculations to support budgeting and financial planning.
• Supported annual Rates & Charges calculations, compiling and validating terminal-wide airline space areas to inform cost allocation.
• Reviewed Terminal 2 vs OGT gap analyses, comparing existing and future airline areas with quantitative justification.

4. Multimodal, Landside & Transit Integration
• Supported CTA Blue Line extension planning, evaluating multiple alignment and operational scenarios including through-running, split services, and underground options.
• Developed Blue Line–Terminal 5 connectivity alternatives and Metra-to-multimodal/rental car facility linkage studies.
• Planned APM routes, station locations, vertical circulation, and distance calculations for S1, S2, and OGT.
• Led Midway Airport garage re-determination, improving connectivity to the Orange Line station.

5. Baggage Handling, Logistics & Back-of-House Planning
• Analyzed BHS impacts during TAP construction, identifying operational risks and reconfiguration opportunities.
• Led Terminal 5 domestic baggage reclaim expansion studies, developing and comparing three alternatives with apron-level routing.

• Prepared BHS equipment inventories, conveyor line documentation, and area calculations for CDA coordination.
• Developed CRDF logistics layouts, evaluating airport-wide requirements, site selection, and distance trade-offs.
• Studied loading dock, bus routing, and curbside logistics, including temporary relocations during construction phases.

6. Commercial Planning & Concessions Strategy

• Conducted site visits and coordination to validate existing conditions (vents, diffusers, BOH constraints).
• Led commercial area benchmarking and footprint optimization for Terminal 1 and Rotunda.
• Developed LODs and design guidelines for Terminal 1 and 3 concessions RFPs, including CAD lease lines, typology categorization, and InDesign submission packages.
• Supported Terminal 5 concessions mapping, categorization, and area calculations.

7. Operational Readiness, Phasing & Displaced Programs
• Led Terminal 2 displaced program planning, identifying temporary and permanent relocation clusters for airline, CTA, rideshare, ALO, and vendor spaces.
• Prepared displaced program memos, typology tables, and schematic layouts for CDA decision-making.

• Developed S1 turnover and internal phasing documents, clearly defining CDA vs airline scope responsibilities.
• Supported construction phasing strategies for TAP, T1C, Rotunda, and OGT projects.

8. Systems Planning, Wayfinding & Technology Integration
• Schematic plan for FIDS screen locations, sizing, and standardization, producing terminal-wide plans for existing and future facilities.
• Led signage and wayfinding studies for baggage claim and make-up areas across Terminals 1, 2, and 3.
• Supported Passenger Processing Systems equipment review, distilling large technical datasets into usable planning graphics.

• Conducted benchmarking for apron markings, taxiways, APM systems, and courtesy cart operations.

9. Stakeholder Coordination & Communication
• Coordinated with CDA, CBP, CTA, Ricondo, and internal design teams.
• Prepared executive-level graphics, memos, and presentations to support decision-making at concept, 30%, and implementation stages.
• Bridged technical analysis and clear storytelling, translating complex planning issues into actionable insights.

In compliance with project confidentiality and NDA requirements, select graphics and datasets for the aviation planning work described above are not included in this portfolio.
